This is going to be a short post because, I have so much to say because I haven’t been blogging regularly (or at all actually) and I fear I will sound like I am rambling, so I’ll keep it sweet and just update you on my first event from last Sunday.

Holding an event has been a bit of a goal of mine for a while now and well, I decided to take the leap and be like the Nike swoosh and “Just do it”

I’m not going to lie, it’s hard to get people to an event, even when you have two amazing women speaking. So if you attended, you would have been inspired by these ladies who shared their stories on why they started their careers, their challenges, what keeps them motivated, any tips when starting a business and to throw in something a little different, we asked if they had to describe themselves as s song, what would it be?

Katie, not surprisingly said she would be Titanium and Wendy isn’t just a song, she chose a genre, Jazz.

Guests took home some organic tea courtesy of  The Rabbit Hole

Katie was also kind enough to offer a $50 off voucher when you spend $150 or more, she is also having a “pop up” event where you can purchase any of her range but also have a travel blanket monogrammed in time for Christmas. Check out details here

It would be remiss of me to leave out the ever gorgeous Wendy, check out her Insta feed here and jump on board for her next capsule wardrobe challenge, I am going to make an effort to make sure I participate for more than 1 day, I’m not really great at sticking to these challenges!

Until next time, here a few more pics from last Sunday. Before I go, I do need to thank all of my friends for coming along. I truly am so grateful that I have such an amazing support crew of women (and my hubby of course) that came to support me.

Stay tuned, there are more events coming in the New Year, one will be based around financial advice for women, I’d love to hear your thoughts and what you would like to know!

Gorgeous flowers to say thanks for being so generous with their time

For those of you that don’t know me, I have a LOT of experience in the Corporate world. So much so that it would be impossible to write about it all in just one post but to give you a brief rundown, here goes:

I started my career back in 1986 in Corporate for ANZ Bank and then moved onto places such as Merrill Lynch, HSBC, Deutsche Bank and State Plus (formerly State Super).

In fact, I met my husband of 19 years while working at HSBC so I have some really great memories of my corporate life. There was a couple of career changes in there, I was a personal trainer for a while, worked in fashion retail and also took my self off to do a personal stylist certificate!

These days, hubby and I run our own financial planning business and things are crazy hectic. I’ve mostly been working from home but there’s always distractions: I’ll just put on a load of washing, I’ll just get dinner started, this place is a mess, I’ll just tidy up a bit (two hours later..)  and the list goes on..

So, when I was asked to collaborate on #corporatemumstyle to share my style tips I was super chuffed! I started my Instagram as a little bit of fun after my styling course and have recently decided I’d like to start up a blog again, so the timing couldn’t have been more perfect!

Robyna from @robynamummyandminx has written a great post about The “Real” Job and it has me thinking about all the times I’ve been asked if I miss having a “real” job now that we run our own business. Looking forward to sharing my thoughts with you through the week on this and of course my corporate outfits!

Here’s my first tip though: Invest in a good quality jacket, this will dress up just about any outfit. This jacket I am wearing is from Cue, I’ve had it for about 10 years, yes you heard right 10 years! This is what happens when you buy quality pieces. You can always buy bright accessories to give it a pop. Dress is a jersey dress from Katie Perry which I also wear with my converse and a denim jacket on weekends, the jacket I also team with my skinny jeans and heels for weekend evening wear, so my whole outfit is double duty

Don’t forget to add the hashtag to your corporate style

So I thought it appropriate to write my first post in a while on one of my favorite places, the NSW Central Coast. I’m fortunate enough to have an amazing mother in law that has a little holiday shack in Budgewoi. No, it’s not overly glamorous, but what it lacks it glamour it makes up for in convenience. It’s a five minute drive from Lakes Beach, where they have an off leash dog exercise area so our fur daughter gets to have a play in the sand as well. Another five minutes (if that)  down the road is Norah Head where there is a cute little place we frequent while up there, The Ark Cafe. Great coffee, great food and very laid back. Rock up in your swimmers and flip flops and grab a bean bag under a tree and enjoy. What I love more than anything about this place is that the parking at beaches is free and easy to find and it’s only just over an hour drive for us from the North West of Sydney!

Happy when he has a plate of food in front of him, teenagers!

My lunch was the healthier choice: fish cakes with salad

Colourful and quirky, have a look around while waiting for your order

Grab a spot under a tree, sit inside or set up your own blanket or towel!

Fish and chips

Follow the stairs down…..

to the rock pool, it’s not always this full

look over to this view

Houses that over look the rock pool, would love to live here

Charlie approves while Dad has a paddle

The beach over from the rock pool, there’s also a boat ramp and spot to clean off fish from your fishing trip. Trailer parking is also at top of the hill

Norah Head really is a beautiful little spot, if you are ever on the coast drop in and have a lazy little morning or afternoon. I guarantee it’ll be relaxing!
